Sunset on Cannon Beach with Haystack Rock, Oregon

Locals told me the west coast does not have pretty sunsets like the rest of the country. We did not see any super colorful sunsets but Haystack Rock made up for it.

Another sunset with a little more clouds which did not offer any color but it was still pretty with the waves and the rocks on the beach - agree?

Glacier - Avalanche Gorge and St Mary sunset

For being one of the larger national Parks, Glacier covers quite a large number of mountainous and largely snow covered terains. It is not until July/August that the park is fully open but at night it still get very cold. Definately a place to vist.

Sunset over St Marys Lake.

McDonald Creek - Glacier NPS

McDonald Creek has many sets of rapids and cascades feeding McDonald lake. This location had a large amount of stone on both sides of the creek.

Here is detail silky detail of the water interaction with the rocks.

McDonald is the typical rough western creek with large boulders and trees that are pulled into the raging waters. Beware - do not get too close..

Avalanche Lake, Glacier NPS

Reflection off Avalanche lake shows the mountins in the back as well as the logs at the bottom of the lake.

The log points to the waterfalls created by snow melt which feed Avalanche Lake.

McDonald Creek Waterfall Study - Glacier NPS

Glacier National Park has many waterfalls across the park with most requiring a serious hike to get to. McDonald Creek empties into McDonald Lake, being on of the larger lakes with historic hotels located on the shoreline. Upstream from the lake is the McDonald Falls which I have posted a study of three photos for your enjoyment.
